Youth development

Billiard, also known as pool, can offer several benefits for children and youth development. some key advantages include:

Concentration and Focus

Playing billiard requires concentration and focus, as players need to plan their shots, calculate angles, and strategise their moves. Regular practice can improve a child's ability to concentrate and develop their focus.

Spatial Awareness and Hand-Eye Coordination

Billiard helps children develop spatial awareness as they learn to judge distances, angles, and pot balls into pockets. This game also enhances hand-eye coordination, as players have to control the cue stick and hit the balls accurately.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

Billiard involves strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Players need to analyse the layout of the table, assess different shot options, and make decisions accordingly. This encourages critical thinking, logical reasoning, and decision-making abilities.

Patience and Resilience

Billiard is a game that requires patience and resilience. Players may face challenging situations on the table, such as difficult shots or unfavourable positions. By practicing and improving over time, children learn to be patient, persistent, and resilient in the face of challenges.

Social Interaction and Sportsmanship

Billiard can be played individually or in teams, fostering social interaction and teamwork. It provides an opportunity for children to bond with their peers, develop sportsmanship, learn to take turns, and follow rules.

Emotional Regulation

Billiard can help children learn how to manage their emotions. Respecting opponents, handling wins and losses gracefully, and maintaining composure during gameplay contribute to emotional regulation and self-control.

Overall, billiard can provide a range of benefits for children and youth, promoting cognitive skills, social development, and physical activity. Encouraging children to engage in this game can contribute to their overall growth and development.

Physical Fitness

Although billiard may not be as physically demanding as some other sports, it still involves physical movement and can be a great way to encourage children to be more active. Players often need to walk around the table, use their arms to strike the cue ball, and maintain a good posture while playing.

Youth shooting for the stars

There is currently no suitable youth development program in South Africa for American pool so we found it fitting to consider and plan for the youth in our new business venture.

With the help of Professional players such as Veronika Ivanovskaia and Jason Theron as well as experienced amateur players, we will be able to provide a high standard of coaching and mentorship for the exceptionally talented youngsters in the Western Cape.
